Former Oasis guitarist, singer and songwriter Noel Gallagher held a press conference today in London to reveal details regarding his debut solo album. The album will be the first new material to be released by the Manchester musician, following his departure from the band way back in August 2009.
Updates were released via Twitter by Gallagher’s own record label Sour Mash, although many of the details had already leaked online. Gallagher has “two albums ready to go”, the first of which is a solo album and the second of which is in collaboration with psychedelic electronic duo Amorphous Androgynous, who previously produced a 22-minute remix of Oasis single ‘Falling Down’ in 2009.
Gallagher’s debut album will be called High Flying Birds, and will be released on 17 October this year. The title will also be used for Gallagher’s touring band, which will simply be known as Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. The collaboration album is yet to have an official release date, but should be expected next year. The track listing of High Flying Birds has also been revealed, and can be found on the NME website. Rumours have surfaced that ‘The Death of You and Me’ is to be the lead single from the album, although this is not yet confirmed.
The full press conference will be available to watch later on the official Noel Gallagher website.
