Joiners have won the regional vote for Best Small Venue in the annual competition run by NME. The winners in South West region, the iconic venue now enters the short list for the national award, against nine other venues. Joiners beat off competition from locations in Bristol, Bournemouth and Portsmouth amongst others and have reclaimed an award that was last won in 2011.
Having played host to Frank Turner and The Vaccines this year, it has been a buoyant year for the pub, despite economic difficulties. Having reached the final stage, the management had this to say:
We are extremely thankful and humbled by the support so far! Hopefully we can win as this would be a huge boost for Southampton’s music scene on a national scale.
For us a venue it would be the culmination of a lot of hard years work and having the special show would be a huge party for Southampton!
