Disney announced official plans yesterday (12th March) to produce a sequel to Frozen, reported Variety.
The 2013 box-office smash took in over $1 billion worldwide and became the highest-grossing animated film of all time, spurring mass global popularity, a hit soundtrack and endless merchandise.
To prepare for the newly-announced sequel, there is the release of Frozen Fever, a short film which was to air before Disney’s latest live-action movie, Cinderella starring Helen Bonham-Carter and Richard Madden.
The short film will see everyone’s favourite queen Elsa (Idina Menzel) attempt to throw a part for Princess Anna’s birthday (Kristen Bell) and keep the whole thing quiet. Things don’t go to plan and Elsa comes down with a cold. As Elsa is not our normal Disney Queen, she cannot come down with a conventional cold, as director Jennifer Lee explains: “Elsa doesn’t get a cold in the usual way. She’s special. Surprising things occur that wreak a little havoc.”
Frozen Fever will be shown before Cinderella when it is released here in the UK on the 3rd April.
