Paramount Pictures have released a new trailer for the upcoming entry in the Terminator franchise. Many trailers can be coy about plot developments, and early ones for this film didn’t offer to much hope that it could be different from what’s come before. Then they appeared to give the game away.
The new film will see Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) travelling back in time on John Connor’s (Jason Clarke) orders to save his mother Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke) as in the original, only to find that the past has been altered. Now, Sarah is a tough and damaged young woman, accompanied by a T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger). Pursued by Skynet across time, the direction the film will head in is still unclear.
However as this trailer reveals, it seems Skynet have interfered with John and turned him into a super cyborg Terminator that can disintegrate and reform. Clarke promises fans that this crazy development will “pay off” but there has already been a reaction to the trailer showing too much of the plot already.
It is worth remembering however that former Doctor Who star Matt Smith’s role is yet to be revealed (IMDb lists him as ‘Tim’). There is a lot still unknown, but one thing is almost certain” Terminator: Genisys is going to be as crazy as the spelling of its title.
The film, directed by Alan Taylor, will be released in the UK on 3rd July.
