Foals are giving fans the chance to hear their next album, What Went Down, before its release on Friday (28th August) by giving away free copies of the record on cassette.
To make the prospect even more exciting, the band have launched an online treasure hunt; hiding the cassettes in various locations across the world and sharing the co-ordinates through social media.
The band are encouraging fans to share photos of the tapes when they have been found, but have requested that the winners do not upload copies of the cassettes to the internet. Copies of the album have already been hidden in Madrid, Paris, Oslo, Amsterdam, Berlin and Hamburg.
What Went Down is the band’s fourth studio album, following on from 2013’s Holy Fire. It was recorded in the South of France with Simian Mobile Disco’s James Ford, who has also worked with Arctic Monkeys, Klaxons and Mumford and Sons. In a recent interview with NME, frontman Yannis Phillipakis described the record as “lean”and “punchy.”
Foals have also recently announced a UK wide tour starting in November, that includes a date at Southampton Guildhall.
