Nicolas Cage is set to star in a new political drama entitled The Runner.
The film, directed by Austin Stark, is set in the aftermath of the infamous BP oil spill of 2010. Cage plays Colin Pryce – an idealistic but flawed politician who is forced to confront his dysfunctional life after his career is destroyed in a sex scandal.
Following the oil spill, Pryce makes an emotional testimony before Congress about the impact the catastrophe will have on local fishermen and tourist business – restoring his political status. However, just as Pryce becomes open to the possibility of a new life, an incident with his Father (Peter Fonda), forces him to confront his troubled past.
Also starring Sarah Paulson, Connie Nielsen, Wendell Pierce and Bryan Batt, The Runner will be released at selected UK cinemas on 6th November, courtesy of High Fliers.
