Frank Turner to play Surge Sessions

After the huge success of their recent initiative, ‘Surge Sessions’, The University of Southampton’s very own student-run radio station will see renowned singer-songwriter, Frank Turner performing live on air on Saturday 7th November.

Turner will play a number of songs from his latest album, Positive Songs For Negative People, live from the Surge studio – which is located at the heart of Highfield Campus. He will also be chatting to the team about his tour and the success of his most recent record, which charted at number two earlier this year.

Surge’s focus on live music was kick-started earlier this year with the inaugural week of ‘Surge Sessions’, which saw local acts such as Sean McGowan (a contemporary of Frank Turner), and Jerry Wiliams (who has received a lot of support on the South Coast), coming into the studio and performing live across 87.7FM and online.

Cameron Meldrum, Surge Radio’s head of Social Media and Marketing said: “I’m extremely excited for Frank to come down to Surge. It’s not everyday you get the chance to have an artist of his enormity and calibre perform live in the studio”.

You can catch Frank Turner live on Surge from 2pm tomorrow. To get involved in the conversation, send your tweets to @surgeradio.
