Jennifer Lawrence has revealed that she is planning to direct a film in the very near future.
The Oscar-winning actress, who is currently storming the Box Office with the final instalment of The Hunger Games quadrilogy, spoke to Entertainment Weekly about her intentions to add the title of ‘director’ to her already much-esteemed resume.
“I have wanted to direct as long as I’ve wanted to act,” she told the magazine. “I just don’t talk about it because I’d rather just do it.” And indeed, it looks as though the X-Men: First Class star is just getting on with it, having apparently “signed on” to helm a new film entitled Project Delirium.
“It’s based on this article about mental warfare in the ’60s, like an acid experiment gone terribly wrong,” she said of the project. “It’s funny, I’ve wanted to direct since I was 16 and always thought I should start making steps towards that. If I had tried to do it earlier, I wouldn’t have been ready. Now I actually feel ready.”
Quite when Lawrence will be able to start production on this new project is unclear, given her incredibly busy schedule. She is currently in the process of shooting Passengers, alongside Chris Pratt, and also has further acting projects lined up with directors such as Darren Aronofsky and Steven Spielberg.
In addition to her ever-increasing acting duties, Lawrence is also co-writing a comedy with friend and comedienne, Amy Schumer.
