New information about the upcoming Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon games has been revealed.
In a Pokémon Channel live stream trailer, key aspects of the new games were showcased, including slightly improved graphics with properly proportioned character models, new starter Pokémon, version legendaries and the new Alola region, thought to be based on Hawaii. A character called Kukui is the player’s cousin and could be the Professor of the region, as being named after the Hawaiian Kukui nut tree would keep in the tradition of having Professors named after types of tree.
The grass type starter, Rowlet, is based on an owl and will be Grass/Flying type. It also comes with a new move called ‘Leafage’. The fire starter, Litten, is a black and red tiger-like kitten who, like previous fire type starters, seems to be based on an animal in the Chinese Zodiac. The water type starter, Popplio, is a blue sea lion.
The legendaries revealed to be Sun and Moon’s mascots are also showcased. Though they have not been named, the Sun mascot is a huge white and gold lion, speculated to be at least part fire type, while the Moon mascot is large bat with circular wings shaped similarly to the moon.
Character customisation may be back, as the playable character is seen with differing skin colours and wearing different clothing in the trailer footage.
Pokémon Sun and Moon is due for release on 23rd November in Europe.
