The BBC have released the first trailer for Poldark series 2.
The hit show, starring Aiden Turner as brooding protagonist Ross Poldark, is set to make a much anticipated return as a major part of the BBC One Autumn schedule.
The trailer reveals very little about what is to happen in the coming episodes. However the Turner’s voiceover promises an action-packed series, declaring: “I’ve fought for our liberty. For our hopes. For our dreams. And I’ll keep on fighting- whatever the cost.”
The first season dramatically concluded with Poldark being arrested for murder and wrecking, and the second season is set to open continuing this storyline. The upcoming series will also tackle a controversial rape storyline between Ross and old flame Elizabeth, taken from the original books. Aiden Turner has confirmed that in the current adaptation, however, the relationship between the two characters will be entirely consensual.
Poldark has proven a hit with fans, and has already been renewed for a third season.
Poldark will return to BBC One on Sunday 4th September. Watch the trailer below:
