Bridget Jones is set to be adapted into a musical.
Helen Fielding, Jones’ creator is reportedly ‘excited’ for this to happen – she appeared on This Morning and made Philip Schofield very excited.
She’s written the stage adaption and it’s apparently all ready to go (apart from a few bits that need refining). Should we be excited? She very much is.
Fielding said of the project: “We have done quite a lot of work on the musical, and in workshops… I’m really excited about a musical. It depends on whether the theatre is available. It’s very spontaneous, [but we can expect it]in the next few years.”
The third film in the series, Bridget Jones’s Baby is so far receiving a warm response from critics. But she thinks a fourth film will wait until she has: “a story to tell and something to say, otherwise people won’t believe in her”.
