A new series of the classic Roger Hargreaves  Mr. Men children’s books will feature characters from BBC’s Doctor Who.

Developed by Hargreaves’ son Adam, the series will see stories featuring the first, fourth, eleventh and twelfth incarnations of The Doctor.

Inspired by many Mr. Men mash-ups floating around the internet, Philip Jones, editor of The Bookseller, who publishes the stories, said that: “there has been a market for ironic takes and mash-ups from old classics done with a new twist.” before adding, “With these types of book it’s all to do with getting that combination of humour of nostalgia right.”

The books are certainly set to provide much nostalgia, given the series’ previous success and its iconic art style. The Mr Men books were first conceived in 1971, and since then have seen more than 120 million copies sold in over 15 different languages. Initially written and illustrated by Roger Hargreaves, Adam Hargreaves has been continuing the legacy since his father’s death in 1988.

The Doctor Who editions: Doctor First, Doctor Fourth, Doctor Eleventh and Doctor Twelfth, are set for publication in the Spring of 2017.

Doctor Who returns at Christmas after a hiatus. Watch the first footage from the special below:
