In what is one of the more surprising casting choices ever, Gary Barlow has revealed in a TV appearance that he will feature in the eighth Star Wars film, The Last Jedi.
Speaking whilst on Lorraine earlier this week, he revealed that although he is not a Stormtrooper, he definitely has a role in the new film. The singer was quick not to release any more details, joking that he’d probably be cut due to his revelation.
Barlow commented: ‘I think the Star Wars people are so strict about what information (is out there). So me saying that, I’ve probably just done myself out of a role,’ Barlow said, though the interview was given the green light by Star Wars producers before broadcast.
The film, which follows on from 2015’s The Force Awakens is due for release in December and features stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac who will all reprise their roles as Rey, Finn and Poe respectively. It also features one of the last appearances of Carrie Fisher (General Leia Organa), filmed before her shock death last year.
Gary Barlow is currently on a press tour with the other two remaining members of Take That, as they promote their latest album. They stopped in LA to record a ‘Carpool Karaoke’ segment with James Corden. Watch it below:
