The latest trailer for Season Five of Netflix Original Series House of Cards has been released.
The trailer, which is accompanied by a hauntingly powerful voice-over from Kevin Spacey (Frank Underwood) features the fictional President telling the audience that the ‘American people don’t know what is best for them, I do.’ With the motif for the season focused around the tagline “We Make The Terror”, it is clear that HoC’s fifth outing will be much darker than any of the previous four.
The focus appears to be on the conservation and preservation of power, charting the climax of the Underwood 2016 campaign which featured prominently in the previous season. The power-play between Claire and Frank appears to have returned, although many people refuse to accept them- you see the protests against their leadership in the trailer.
Frank isn’t bothered though, and is determined to maintain his macabre control for as long as possible. The trailer ends on the note that ‘2016, 2020, 2024, 2028, One Nation. Underwood.’
