A-list Actor and Producer Brad Pitt has signed on to Quentin Tarantino’s next film to star alongside the previously confirmed Leonardo DiCaprio.
The film, confirmed by Sony Pictures to be entitled Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, follows fictitious former TV star, Rick Dalton (DiCaprio), and his stunt double, Cliff Booth (Pitt), who seek to make their way in a Hollywood they no longer recognise, set against the backdrop of the famous Charles Manson-orchestrated murders. Rick’s neighbour happens to be Manson’s highest profile victim, Hollywood star Sharon Tate.
Speaking of the film, which will be his ninth effort as director, Tarantino said “I’ve been working on this script for five years, as well as living in Los Angeles County most of my life, including in 1969, when I was seven years old […] I’m very excited to tell this story of an L.A. and a Hollywood that don’t exist anymore. And I couldn’t be happier about the dynamic teaming of DiCaprio & Pitt as Rick & Cliff.”
The film marks the second time both Pitt and DiCaprio will work with Tarantino; Pitt previously played Lieutenant Aldo Raine in 2009’s Inglourious Basterds, whereas DiCaprio starred as Calvin Candie in 2012’s Django Unchained. The role of Sharon Tate has yet to be cast, but rumours have strongly circulated that Tarantino has been eyeing Oscar nominee Margot Robbie for the part.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood will be released on 9th August, 2019. Check out some more of Pitt and Tarantino below:
