The last time I saw Hacktivist they were supporting trancecore giants Enter Shikari at a local venue in Frome a few years ago. Naturally, I was distracted by the main event, but thought to myself in my post-gig contemplation that this band would go far. I wasn’t wrong. Two years on and they have become hugely successful (despite having released only one self-titled EP), appearing at some massive shows across the globe including Sonisphere 2013 and this year’s Soundwave Festival. Rumour has it that the five-piece djent/rap metal group will be playing Download 2015 as well so watch out for news on that.
The real news, of course, is that Hacktivist are doing a nationwide tour in November and December, and Southampton is one of their final dates. Come down to the Joiners for a unique blend of rap vocals (supplied by J Hurley) and djent metal chugs which are guaranteed to rupture your organs and leave you grinning like an idiot – no-one else mixes genres with as much success as Hacktivist. Accompanying them will be experimental metal guests Dead Harts and The One Hundred to bring the noise, the pits and the sweat to Joiners.
