Jason Isaacs has today been confirmed to star in upcoming Star Trek reboot Star Trek: Discovery.

Having previously confirmed that Sonequa Martin-Green (The Walking Dead) and Michelle Yeoh would both respectively star in the upcoming reboot, as a Discovery lieutenant and as Captain Georgiou  of rival Starfleet ship, The Shenzou, speculation had been rife as to whoever would run the titular spaceship for the series. The question has finally been answered in the form of Isaacs.

Having previously starred in the Harry Potter franchise and also The OA, Isaacs is set to play Captain Lorca in a major role for the upcoming CBS reboot. Despite his position as a major role (and not being a red-shirt), the company are staying tight-lipped as to whether his role is regular, recurring, or indeed a one-off guest star. Considering how prestigious Isaacs is, one would probably assume the former is more likely.

Also confirmed to star in Star Trek: Discovery are James Frain (Gotham) as Spock’s father Sarek,  Anthony Rapp (Rent) as Lt. Stamets, an “astromycologist,” fungus expert, and Starfleet Science Officer aboard the Starship Discovery and finally, Doug Jones (Hellboy) who will play Lt. Saru, a Starfleet Science Officer and a new alien species in the Star Trek universe.

Star Trek: Discovery is expected to premiere in the autumn. Check out the trailer below:
