John Simm set to return to Doctor Who as The Master

John Simm, who played the most recent incarnation of The Master in Doctor Who has today confirmed he is set to return for Series 10.

Simm’s Master, whose last appearance came in David Tennant’s final appearance in Doctor Who, ‘The End of Time’ is set to appear alongside Michelle Gomez’s Missy, who was believed to be the newest incarnation of the maniacal Timelord who is the Doctor’s Gallifreyan nemesis.

Simm confirmed the news today, saying: ‘I can confirm that it’s true, thanks to the power of time travel I’m back.’ He added, ‘It’s always a pleasure to work with this great team of people and I can’t wait for you all to see what The Master gets up to in the next series.’

Series showrunner Steven Moffat, who is chairing his final series of the legendary sci-fi program commented on the return of Simm, commenting: ‘It’s been a huge pleasure to have fan favourites John Simm and Michelle Gomez face to face in the same role! It’s not often you get to see a solo personality clash.’

Simm became a fan favourite due to his exuberant, over-the-top personality and madness, which marked a change from the cool and calculating character from classic Who.

Doctor Who returns on Saturday 15th April. Check out one of Simm’s best moments below:
