Imagine a cross between MGMT and Passion Pit but with some female vocals thrown in and you get The Naked and Famous. The Naked and Famous originate from New Zealand and are a 5 piece indie-electro band. The single ‘Young Blood’ was first released in November 2010 and may sound familiar to you as it was used in the promotional adverts for the last series of Skins which E4 liked to repeat at least 20 times every day for about a month. But the band have now re-released the single as there now seems to be more hype around the band, after being nominated for the Radio 1 Sound of 2011 award and featuring on the set lists of some major festivals including Glastonbury, Reading and Wireless. As soon as you start listening to ‘Young Blood’ you immediately get that summer feeling as its infectious electro sounds and heavy bass have you hooked from start to finish. Whilst, the band’s front woman Alisa Xayalith’s vocals are subdued yet energetic all at the same time giving the song a relaxed vibe. The Naked and Famous are definitely one to watch this year and ‘Young Blood’ is sure to be the perfect festival, summer anthem.
