Cast your mind back 12 months and you might remember hearing about this new girl on the block, Kreayshawn, as her exciting electro hip hop sound generated one of the underground club tracks of the summer, ‘Gucci Gucci‘. At that point, there was a lot of hype, and since then she has been working on her debut album Somethin ‘Bout Kreay, but if her latest single is anything to go by, there really isn’t ‘Somethin ‘Bout Kreay’.
The track, titled ‘Go Hard (La La La)’ starts off with an awful chorus based around the lines “Do you really really really want to go hard?” and “La la la la la la la la la la la la”. To make things worse, this is paired with a bland beat which sounds like it’s been created by a 13 year old trying to get to grips with GarageBand. A glimmer of hope is displayed with the first verse which showcases witty rhymes, but at just over 20 seconds long it is crushed by the return of the monotone chorus. There is no let up for the rest of the track, and Kreayshawn just comes across as a ghetto version of Ke$ha with less glitter and more STIs.
