The latest single from the UK’s favourite new male solo artist, Conor Maynard, is one of those tracks that will fill dancefloors in clubs everywhere. Unless even the drunk are too snobby to succumb to his boyish charm (and looks) as they’re too busy comparing him to Justin Bieber. I for one would happily dance along to the electro-pop beats in this song and as for Ne-Yo, he brings a welcome douce of his classic RnB vocals. For a third single Conor must be doing something extremely right to have someone as legendary as Ne-Yo being a featuring artist. Like I said, his vocals simply enhance those that Conor has already bought to the table.
However, considering the previous singles Conor has released, both of which are of a similar vain, upbeat, catchy, I would have liked the world to have seen a different side to him. His debut album Contrast is full of musical variation showing his strengths in multiple areas, yet he releases another club tune. I hope for his next single he will release something slower and emotional, perhaps the Frank Ocean penned ‘Pictures’ or the deep and heartfelt ‘Glass Girl’. I’m not disputing ‘Turn Around’ as a song, it’s great! Just maybe show of all of your talents Conor!
‘Turn Around’ is out now and check out the music video for the single below.
