As a huge SBTRKT fan, I had been eagerly anticipating the release of his second album from the British producer almost as soon as I had devoured the first back in 2011. And as each single has broken through the music stratosphere, he has not disappointed. The latest release ‘The Light’, featuring the beautiful and talented twenty-one year-old, Denai Moore, follows in the previous teaser tracks’ footsteps.
The track, just over three minutes long, although beginning slowly, has a gradually built-up bass and tempo which invites the listener to swim in Moore’s dulcet tones that are reminiscent of Jess Glynne’s. As the sultry singer purrs that “The light never stays yeah”, the listener wants to sway with the rest of the bodies on the dance floor until the light does decide to stay. Definitely a track to look out for if electronic dance music is your cup of tea.
